CYC Seattle organizes weeknight racing from April through September and
several large weekend regattas, totaling over 100 days of racing each year. Our racers come
from all levels of experience: first time racers, weeknight campaigners,
world champions and Olympic sailors. We race on Lake
Washington and Puget Sound with destination, overnight and buoy
courses.

Commodore: Welcome to the 2024 Racing Season
Welcome to another season of CYC Racing! For so many of us, this is something we so look forward to after a long rainy winter. Racing brings out the best in us, the team building, comradery, and difficult tactics that lead us to hard earned victories on the water. The friendships we make, even as fierce competitors on the water, lead to lifelong memories and relationships we all cherish.
The backdrop for our racing never disappoints. CYC Programs offer outstanding race management, with fair courses, and of course the best competition. Lake Washington offers one-design racing with the breathtaking backset of Mount Rainier and Puget Sound with the Olympic Mountains on one side and the Cascade Mountains on the other, offering one design, PHRF and ORC classes. There is no question we race in the most beautiful waters in the world.
The CYC racing program has a long history of running the top events. This year is no exception, culminating in the J/24 Worlds in October. I encourage all of us to get out on the racecourse as much as possible. Invite your friends to get their boats out racing and to join the club. Keeping CYC healthy and strong will contribute to the long-term success of sailing in our area. More members, more racing, and many opportunities to volunteer will strengthen our amazing club for the long haul. I can readily put you in touch with people to find ways you can contribute. Or just come find us after racing in the clubhouse!
Sincerely,
John Hoag

Race Fleet Captain: What's New in 2024
Hello CYC Seattle Racers! I am so excited to be your Race
Fleet Captain for 2024 and to get to work with all y’all, putting on some of
the best--by quality and quantity-- sailboat races in the country. My goals for
the year are to put on a consistent, reliable, and professional race program,
which you’ve come to expect from CYC.
It is a great time to be a member and a racer with so much
action in our one-design programs and even a World championship to look forward
to in October! I personally know how much time, energy, and money you and your
crews put into this Corinthian sport so please reach out directly to me if
there is anything I can do to help make your experience even better. As a
reminder, the CYC is a member-run organization, so if you want to make a
difference in your racing, please join me by giving back to your Club, we have
many ways you can help.
I look forward to seeing you all on the water soon.
Sail Safe and Fast,
Jon Anderson

Changes to the 2024 Race Book
We are excited to have the Clubspot software platform managing CYC race registrations and results. This year you’ll see who has signed up for a regatta in real-time. Although CYC Season Pass holders will continue to register for each event throughout the year, boat registration info will be one click and done.CYC Race Book contains descriptions of each event we are offering this year, but please note the contents here are for information only and are not considered the NOR for that event. Refer to the race specific registration page on the CYC event registration page for the official Notice of Race.To encourage offseason sailing events, Frigid Digit and Turkey Bowl are expanding to include other classes of 5 or more boats. Keep sailing year-round and join us at one of these events.
Center Sound Series is back to the well-known format! Race 1 is Blakely Rock, Race 2 is Possession Point and Race 3 is Pulley Point. A halfway time will be taken upon rounding the marks, to account for changing conditions. Look for more details on the event page NOR.
The Salish 200 is a new signature distance race added to the CYC calendar on June 21-23rd. This race is 200 miles of racing around San Juan County and Vashon Island. 3 courses make up this race and can be used as a qualifier for Pac Cup and TransPac. See more details in the race section below.
Hot Buttered Rum Series (Leschi): Join us for a new event to keep your skills sharp over the winter. These three Saturdays are intended to be quick, get on and off the water with 2 races and get on with your weekend. If popular, we will expand in 2025.
