The VX One is a high performance 19 foot sport boat. With its 224kg fitted weight and skiff hull form, it planes easily in local conditions. A wide range of crew weight is competitive, suiting teams of two larger or three smaller sized sailors. As a result, we enjoy a healthy female representation in the class.

The boat benefits from a modest amount of athleticism, and is suitable to young sailors aging out of high performance dinghies, as well as adults who appreciate the benefits of staying reasonably fit. Leading sailors range from teens to grandparents. 

The class is corinthian: each boat is competing based on team skill, not the owner’s ability to pay for rock stars. That said, racing is highly competitive, with a significant number of world champions invested in the class.

Winning Sailing World’s boat of the year award in 2012, the VX One is one of the fastest growing keelboat classes. The 2023 North American championship had 46 boats participating, up from 36 the year before. 

The boat is easily trailerable, facilitating the joys of travelling to different sailing venues.

The west coast fleet is growing, in part due to the west coast circuit, where sailors are active in events from here to California.
